Dance Attire and Supplies
all ballet dancers must have hair in a bun for class.
Below you will find the dance supplies break down for each class. Please pay attention as some of the requirements will also be needed for performances.
If you require dance supplies we suggest contacting Love of Dance Store. They carry all the basics such as slippers, tights, black leotards plus more!

They do not have a brick and mortar store, however they will meet you right at YDA studio!

Ballet and Nutcracker Performance Program
- Dancers are to have a long sleeved black leotard (Pre- Ballet and Ballet 1)
- Thin strap black leotard (Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Ballet 3, optional for Pre-Ballet)
- Theatrical/Ballerina Pink tights,
- Ballet pink/nude Ballet slippers with no drawstrings.
- Hair must be in a bun or similar.
- Skirts are allowed.
- Water bottle is recommended.
- Ballet sweaters are also recommended for the cooler months.
(No hoodies or large sweaters are to be worn in class)
Advanced Ballet Program
- Dancers are to have a thin strap black leotard
- for class any colour or style of leotard is acceptable
- Theatrical Pink/Ballerina Pink tights,
- Ballet pink/nude Ballet slippers with no drawstrings.
- Hair must be in a bun or similar.
- Skirts are allowed.
- Water bottle is recommended.
- Dancers will require pre-pointe shoes or pointe shoes depending on age/level
- Ballet sweaters are also recommended for the cooler months.
(No hoodies or large sweaters)
- Nude leotard is optional and recommended for older dancers with quick changes backstage.
Jazz/Dance Exploration
- black leggings (required for performance)
- black convertible tights
- black thin strap leotard (required for performance)
(leggings and a t-shirt, or leggings and a leotard are both acceptable for class)
- Jazz shoes or Jazz sneakers
- Hair to be up and out of their face.
- Water bottle is recommended
Contemporary/Dance Exploration
- Black camisole leotard (required for performing)
- Black leggings (required for performing)
- Black Convertible tights
- Comfortable and easy to move in clothing
- contemporary socks or contemporary sole/shoes
- Hair to be up and out of their face.
- Water bottle is recommended
Male Dancers
Ballet:
- White t-shirt
- Black jazz shoes or ballet slippers
- black shorts, black leggings, black pants
- Black leggings (required for performing)
- Water bottle is recommended

Jazz:
- t-shirt
- shorts or sweat pants, black pants for performances
- Jazz shoes or Jazz sneakers

Contemporary:
- Black t-shirt
- bare feet or contemporary soles or dance socks
- black shorts, black leggings, black pants
- Black leggings (required for performing)
Creative Movement
- Dancers are to wear something comfortable and easy to move in.
- Socks, bare feet or ballet slippers with no drawstrings are suggested. Leather full sole slippers are the best for young dancers.
- Hair out of their face.
- Water bottle is recommended
