Recital 2024 Dates:

Saturday May 25, 2024

Sunday May 26, 2024

- All registered YDA dancers participate in both shows.

- Tickets are available and sold through Th'YARC box office.

- All dancers are to have their own hair supplies; elastics, hair brush, hair spray, hair net, bobby pins. (hair pieces as part of their costume will be provided by YDA).

- All dancers are to have their own make-up (exceptions for CM and male dancers). Make-up should include; foundation/powder, blush, eye shadow (natural earth tones), eye liner, mascara, lip stick.

- Dancer's names should be in all of their personal belongings.

RECITAL INFORMATION

Dressing Room Rules - Art Studio

All Ballet Classes:

(AB1, AB2, PB, B1, B2, B3)

- Thin strap black leotard

- Ballet Pink Tights

- Nude/Pink ballet soft slippers with no holes

- Dancers in Barre & Variation class will require either Pre-Pointe shoes or Pointes shoes depending on level

- Costume provided by YDA

CM:

- dancers may wear what they want. (examples would be leotard, skirt/tutu, leggings, plain t-shirt)

- slippers are recommend, socks would work too, but should have shoes to wear backstage)

DE1 & DE2:

- black leggings

- Jazz shoes or ballet slippers

- thin strap black leotard

- Costume provided by YDA

DE3:

- Black leggings

- Solid coloured top; either T-Shirt, button up shirt etc. (bright colour is dancers choice. Must receive approval from instructor)

- white sneakers

- All required pieces are to be brought in May 2, 2024 to class

YDA Repertoire:

Dance One: red t-shirt with YDA on the front*

*The t-shirt is in the Adult or Youth Gildan Ultra Cotton T-Shirt in colour RED. YDA in Digital Print Full Front with text in white.

(can be ordered online from YDA Entripy Shop),

- black straight/wide leg pants (not black leggings),

- jazz shoes or white sneakers (will depend on what the majority of dancers already have).

COSTUME REQUIREMENTS

- Sign up sheet is now posted in the lobby of the studio

- Dancers will be assigned to dressing rooms backstage. Chaperon volunteers will be required for both rehearsals at Th'YARC and for the two performances.

- Help will also be required Backstage with costumes, props and runners (collecting and returning classes/groups to their dressing rooms prior to and after their dance).

- Cleaning volunteers will be required for all dressing rooms and backstage.

Sign-up sheets will be posted in the near future in our lobby at the studio.

- Creative Movement dancers will not be assigned a dressing room.

VOLUNTEER SIGN UP

Because of their age, there are a few adjustments that are made for them;

1. They are not assigned a dressing room, but will meet at least 10 minutes before the recital backstage with one parent/guardian.

2. The parent/guardian is asked to remain backstage while the Creative Movement class performs on stage.

3. They do not need to stay for the duration of the recital. I have it set up that they perform first and are free to leave after their dance (whereas older students are to stay for the show entirety).

4. It is a very exciting and overwhelming experience, and some dancers are nervous, that is ok. Creative Movement dancers are encouraged to show up to all assigned rehearsal time, especially at Th’YARC as it is an important part of their dance education. Some dancers my choose not to go on stage and perform whether it be at a rehearsal or the performance and that is ok. I want this to be a positive experience, and sometimes watching from the sides is the perfection amount of experience and participation.

5. Rehearsal time on stage will be quick, usually about 15 mins. This allows us to show you around a bit and usually to run their dance 2 times. I know parents and dancers traveling in this may be a bit of a challenge, however because of their age it is important to keep it quick and to the point.

6. There is no assigned costume for Creative Movement dancers, they can wear what works for them. We only ask that hair is neat and tidy and away from the face; pony tail, braids, bun, pigtails etc.

Thursday May 23, 2024 (Th'YARC) - dress rehearsal, schedule to be posted

*dancers are expected to be at all rehearsal week rehearsals. Specific schedules will be released for each class.

Please keep in mind, in the week(s) prior to this, regular class times may be adjusted or changed to allow proper preparations for our dancers.

Dancers who have been assigned to the Art Studio should bring quiet activities to do while waiting for their turn on the stage. Some great ideas are colouring pages, books, puzzles, simply crafts etc. We ask Parents and chaperons to make sure dancers are not running around as the sound travels and can be heard by those in the theatre and in the lobby. Dancers should only bring water to drink as accidents do happen, but water won't stain or leave a sticky mess. Snacks are ok to bring but should not be eaten while wearing costumes.
